Club Kitty & Referrals

By Ian Strang · Last updated 5 July 2026

Turn your games into a club fund. Every club has a kitty that earns credit from its own paid matches — and grows faster when you refer other clubs to Capo. Our own Thursday group has run a real-world kitty for years (it pays for the Christmas drinks and the half-season prizes); this is that idea, built in.

Where to find your kitty

Open the menu (top-right) and tap Club Kitty — the current balance shows right there in the menu. The kitty page shows the balance, an activity feed of everything the club has earned, and the referral link.

Everyone in the club can see the kitty and share the referral link. Only admins can withdraw.

How the kitty earns

  • Your own paid matches — Every completed paid match (and every season pass purchase) adds a share of Capo's fees to your kitty. Players pay, kitty grows.
  • First paid match bonus — A one-time bonus lands when your club completes its first properly paid match (8+ players paying online).
  • Referrals — When a club you referred starts using payments, you get a one-time referral bonus plus an ongoing share as they keep playing.

Match credits are worked out when the match is completed, based on the payments that have settled by then. A payment that lands after completion won't add to the kitty — so if the balance looks a penny or two light, that's usually why.

Tip

The kitty only earns when payments are on. If your club plays free matches, the balance stays at zero — connecting Stripe and running paid matches is what starts the meter.

Referring another club

1

Open the kitty page

Tap Refer a club. This opens your share sheet with a pre-written message and your club's unique referral link.
2

Send it to someone who runs a game

Any player can share the link — you don't need to be an admin. The mate in your other WhatsApp group who moans about organising? That's the one.
3

They sign up through your link

Their new club is tagged as referred by yours. Once they're up and running with payments, your kitty starts earning from their activity.

Referral credits need real matches

Referral earnings only count matches with 8 or more players paying online — so a club can't be created just to farm rewards. Your own club's match earnings have no such minimum.

Withdrawing the kitty

Once the balance reaches the minimum shown in the app, admins see a Withdraw button on the kitty page. The money is transferred to the club's connected Stripe account — the same one that receives match fees.

  • Admin only — Players can see the balance and activity, but only admins can withdraw
  • Needs Stripe — If your club hasn't connected Stripe yet, you'll be prompted to do that first
  • Any amount above the minimum — Withdraw the full balance or part of it
  • Region availability — Withdrawals may not be available in every country or currency yet; the kitty page will tell you if that applies to your club. The balance keeps earning either way

What you do with it is the club's business: Christmas drinks, new bibs, a discount on next season. Our group votes for curry.

Tip

Kitty balances are promotional credits until withdrawn — full terms are linked from the kitty page in the app.
