Match Control Centre

The Match Control Centre is where you manage your game from start to finish. It's a simple 3-step workflow: pick your players, balance the teams, then enter the score when you're done.

The 3-step workflow

Every match goes through three stages. You can see where you are in the stepper at the top of the screen.

1

Pool — Pick your players

Search and add players who are playing this week. This is your "pool" of available players. You can add or remove players until you're ready to balance.
2

Teams — Balance and review

Tap Lock & Balance to generate fair teams. Review them, make tweaks if needed, then save to share with players.
3

Done — Enter the result

After the game, enter the final score and individual goals. Tap Save Result and Capo updates everyone's stats automatically.

Tip

You can go back to earlier steps if you need to. Tap the step indicator or use the menu to unlock the pool and start again.

Step 1: Building the player pool

When you open a match, you'll see a search bar to add players. Start typing a name and tap to add them to the pool. You need between 8 and 22 players to balance teams.

The pool shows as coloured chips — tap the X to remove someone if they drop out. The count shows how many you've got (e.g., "12/16" means 12 selected out of 16 available).

Once you've got your players, tap Lock & Balance to move to step 2.

Tip

Need to add someone who isn't in your player list yet? You can create a new player directly inside the Match Control Centre without leaving the screen.

Step 2: Balancing and reviewing teams

When you lock the pool, a modal appears asking how you want to balance:

  • Performance — Uses recent match history to create fair teams. Zero setup required — this is the default.
  • Ability — Uses player ratings you've set. Good when you know players well.
  • Random — Just shuffles players randomly. Quick and simple.

After balancing, you'll see both teams side by side with a "tornado chart" showing how balanced they are. You can drag players between teams if you want to make manual adjustments.

When you're happy, tap Save Teams. Players will immediately see their team on their Upcoming screen and get a notification (if enabled).

Teams aren't visible until saved

Players can't see their team until you tap Save Teams. Before that, they just see "Teams being finalised..."

Re-balancing and adjustments

Not happy with the teams? You have two options:

  • Discard — Resets any manual drag-and-drop changes you've made and returns to the algorithm's original balance.
  • Re-Balance — Runs the balancing algorithm again, letting you pick a different method (e.g., switch from Performance to Ability).

You can also drag and drop players between teams manually — the tornado chart updates in real-time as you make changes.

If you need to change who's playing, use the three-dot menu to Unlock Pool. This takes you back to step 1 so you can add or remove players. You can also edit the match (change date, time) from the same menu.

Step 3: Entering the result

After your game, tap Enter Result to record what happened:

  • Final score — Tap the score bar at the top to enter each team's goals.
  • Individual goals — Tap a player's name to assign them a goal. Switch between teams to add goals to either side.
  • Own goals — There's a separate option for own goals when the scorer is unknown.
  • No-shows — Tap the tick icon to remove a player who didn't turn up (tap again to add them back).
  • Swap teams — If a player ended up on the other team on the day, tap the swap arrow to move them. This saves you going all the way back to re-balance.
  • Goalkeeper — Tap the GK icon to mark a player as fixed goalkeeper for this match. Their stats will be recorded separately.

Once you've entered everything, tap Save Result. Capo will update stats, leaderboards, and streaks automatically. The match report is usually ready within 5–10 seconds, and everyone who played will be notified.

Tip

Made a mistake? You can undo a completed match from the menu. This lets you re-enter the result without losing the match setup. You can also edit past matches from the History tab — for example, if you entered an incorrect goal scorer. Stats will automatically recalculate.

Fixed goalkeeper mode

If you have dedicated goalkeepers who always play in goal, you can enable Fixed GK Mode when balancing. This:

  • Locks your chosen keepers to each team
  • Balances only the outfield players
  • Keeps GK stats separate from outfield stats

See Goalkeepers for more details.
