Creating a match in Capo takes about 10 seconds. Set the date and team size, and you're ready to start adding players.
Creating a new match
1
Go to Matches
Open the Matches section from your admin menu.
2
Tap New Match
You'll see a simple form with the key details.
3
Set the date and time
Pick when you're playing. This shows on everyone's dashboard.
4
Choose team size
Select how many per side — 5-a-side, 6-a-side, 7-a-side, etc. This determines how players get split.
5
Create
Tap Create and your match is ready. You can now start adding players to the pool.
Tip
Your default team size comes from your group settings. You can change it per match if you need to.
Match modes
There are three ways to manage who's playing:
- •Manual — You add players to the pool yourself. This is the default and gives you full control.
- •RSVP — Players book their own spot through the app. Great for reducing WhatsApp chasing.
- •Auto-Pilot — RSVP mode with automatic team balancing and release. Hands-off management.
See RSVP & Booking for details on the booking modes.
Uneven teams
Got 15 players? No problem. Capo supports uneven teams like 7v8 or 8v9.
When creating or editing a match, toggle Uneven Teams and set the size for each side separately. The balancing algorithm will account for the difference.
Ability balancing not available for uneven teams
If you're using uneven teams, you'll need to use Performance or Random balancing. Ability balancing requires equal team sizes.
Editing match details
Need to change the date, time, or team size? Open the match and tap the edit icon (or use the menu). You can update:
- •Date and time — If the game moves
- •Team size — If more or fewer people are coming
- •Team names — Change "Orange" and "Green" to your actual bib colours
- •Location — Add where you're playing
- •Notes — Any extra info for players
Deleting a match
If a game gets cancelled, you can delete the match from the menu. Deleting removes the match and all player assignments — there's no undo, so make sure it's definitely what you want.
If you delete a completed match, stats and leaderboards will be recalculated to remove that game's results.
