Player ratings let you tell Capo what each player is good at. These ratings power the Ability balancing method — useful when you know your players better than the match data suggests.
When to use player ratings
You don't need to set ratings for every player. Performance balancing works without them. But ratings are helpful when:
- •You're just starting out — Not enough match history for Performance balancing
- •New players join — You know they're good but Capo hasn't seen them play
- •Stats don't tell the full story — Someone who defends brilliantly might have low goal stats
- •You want position-aware balancing — Ability mode considers who plays where
The six attributes
Each player has six ratings on a 1-5 scale:
- •Goalscoring — How likely they are to score. Clinical finishers get 5.
- •Defending — Their willingness to play in defence. Natural defenders and those who track back.
- •Stamina/Pace — Fitness and speed. The ones who can run all game.
- •Control — Technical ability. First touch, passing, dribbling.
- •Teamwork — Do they make others better? Pass well, position smartly.
- •Resilience — Mental strength. Do they show up when losing? Keep trying?
Tip
There's a built-in guide when you're setting ratings — tap the info icon next to each attribute for examples.
Setting player ratings
1
Go to the player profile
Open Players and tap on the player you want to rate.
2
Find the Ratings section
Scroll down to see the six attribute sliders.
3
Set each rating
Drag the sliders from 1 (low) to 5 (high) based on your knowledge of the player.
4
Save
Tap save and the ratings are stored. They'll be used next time you balance with Ability mode.
What the numbers mean
- •1 — Well below average for your group
- •2 — Below average
- •3 — Average for your group
- •4 — Above average
- •5 — One of the best in your group at this
Rate players relative to your group, not absolute ability. If everyone in your group is decent, you can still have a range from 1-5 among yourselves.
Be honest
Inflating ratings for your mates (or yourself) defeats the purpose. The more accurate your ratings, the better the balance.
How ratings affect balancing
When you use Ability balancing, Capo considers player positions. It builds teams with a balanced mix of:
- •Defenders — Players strong in Defending
- •Midfielders — Balanced players with Stamina and Control
- •Attackers — Players strong in Goalscoring
The algorithm tries to give each team similar overall strength in each area, not just total points.
Updating ratings over time
Players improve (or decline) — feel free to adjust ratings as you learn more. Maybe someone's been working on their fitness, or a new player turned out to be better than expected.
There's no automatic adjustment of ratings — Performance balancing handles that with match data. Ratings are your manual input.
