Inviting Players

You've got your group set up — now you need players. There are a few ways to get people in, from sharing a link to adding them manually.

Three ways to add players

  • Invite link — Share a link and players sign themselves up
  • Club code — Players enter your 5-character code to join
  • Add manually — You create player profiles yourself

Using the invite link

The easiest way to grow your group is to share your invite link. Players tap the link, create an account, and they're in.

1

Find your invite link

Go to Players in your admin menu and tap Invite at the top.
2

Share it

Copy the link or use the share button to send it via WhatsApp, text, or email.
3

Players sign up

When someone uses the link, they'll create an account and automatically join your group. You'll see them appear in your player list.

Tip

Drop the invite link in your WhatsApp group — that's usually the fastest way to get everyone signed up.

Using your club code

Every group has a unique 5-character code (like "BERKO" or "FCAPO"). Players can use this to find and join your group.

You'll find your club code in the invite section. Players enter it when they sign up or from the "Join a group" option in the app.

This is handy when you can't easily share a link — just tell people your code and they can type it in.

Approving join requests

When someone uses your invite link or club code, they'll enter a few details (phone number, screen name) and their request to join will appear in your Players section for you to review. You can:

  • Approve — They become a full player in your group
  • Assign to existing profile — If you've already set them up as a player (e.g., they've played matches before signing up), you can link them to the correct profile. This stops duplicate players being created and preserves their match history.
  • Reject — They won't be added (useful for random people who find your code)

Tip

The approval step gives you control over who joins, and more importantly lets you match new sign-ups to existing player profiles. If you added someone manually and they later join the app, assigning them avoids duplicates and keeps all their stats in one place.

Adding players manually

If you want to set up player profiles yourself (maybe for people who aren't tech-savvy), you can add them manually:

1

Go to Players

Open the Players section in your admin menu.
2

Tap Add Player

Enter their name and optionally their phone number or email.
3

Save

They'll appear in your player list and can be added to matches immediately.

Manually added players can't log in

Players you add manually don't have an account — they can't log in to see their own stats. If they want access, send them the invite link to create their own account, then you can merge the profiles.

Player flags: Guest, Retired & Admin

When editing a player profile, you'll see a few toggles that control how they appear across the app:

  • Guest — The player won't appear in any leaderboards. Use this for people who come for one or two games — it stops the stats tables getting overly long with players who are no longer around. They can still be added to matches normally.
  • Retired — The player will still appear in all-time leaderboards and records, but they won't show up in drop-down menus (e.g., when building a match pool) and they won't receive notifications. Good for players who've moved on but whose history should be preserved.
  • Admin — Makes this player an admin, giving them the same permissions as you. Useful if you share organiser duties.

Tip

In the player overview screen, small flags show you at a glance whether each player is active or retired, whether they've claimed their profile, downloaded the app, are set as a guest, and how many games they've played.
