Seasons let you group matches into time periods for leaderboards and awards. Most groups run a calendar year or split into two halves — whatever works for your kickabout.

What seasons do

When you create a season, matches played during that time period get grouped together. This gives you:

  • Season leaderboard — Who's winning this year (or half-year)
  • Half-season standings — Mid-season check-in to keep things competitive
  • Season race — Visualise how the title race is unfolding week by week
  • Fresh starts — New season, clean slate, everyone back to zero

Tip

All-time stats, recent form, and streaks work even without seasons. Seasons just add the leaderboard layer.

Creating your first season

1

Go to Seasons

Open the Seasons section from your admin menu.
2

Tap Add Season

You'll see a form asking for the basics.
3

Set start and end dates

Pick when the season runs. Most groups use January to December, but you can choose any range.
4

Set the half-season point (optional)

If you want to track half-season standings, set the mid-point date. This creates a natural break for mini-awards or bragging rights.
5

Save

Your season is created. Any matches within those dates will now count towards the season leaderboard.

Common season setups

  • Calendar year — January 1st to December 31st, half-season at July 1st
  • Football season — August to May, half-season at January
  • Rolling quarters — Some groups prefer shorter seasons for more frequent winners

There's no "right" answer — pick whatever keeps your group engaged. Longer seasons mean more data for meaningful standings; shorter seasons mean more chances to win.

What if I don't create a season?

Capo works fine without seasons. You'll still get:

  • All-time stats for every player
  • Recent form and streaks
  • Match reports and personal bests
  • Team balancing based on performance

You just won't have season leaderboards or half-season standings. Some groups prefer this simpler approach.

Editing and managing seasons

You can edit a season's dates anytime — useful if you got them wrong or want to extend. Just open the season and update the dates.

Be careful with overlapping dates

Each match belongs to one season based on its date. If seasons overlap, matches might end up in the wrong one. Keep your date ranges clean.

Past seasons

Once a season ends, it stays in your history. Players can look back at previous season standings to see who won each year.

To start a new season, just create one with the new date range. The old season's data stays intact.
