Admin Setup

The Settings section lets you customise how Capo works for your group. Most defaults work well, but here's what you can tweak.

Group basics

  • Club name — Your group's name as it appears throughout the app
  • Team names — Default names for Team A and Team B (e.g., "Orange" and "Green")
  • Default team size — How many per side (5v5, 6v6, etc.) for new matches
  • Days between matches — When creating a match, the date defaults to your last match plus this many days. Set to 7 for weekly games.
  • Match duration — How long your games typically run (used for "minutes per goal" stats and record tables)
  • Manual refresh stats — Forces a recalculation of all stats and leaderboards. You'd mainly use this if you've changed a player's name and want the leaderboards to update immediately. Otherwise, stats update automatically after each match.

Default match mode

Choose how new matches work by default:

  • Manual — You add players and manage everything yourself
  • RSVP — Players book their own spot, you balance and send teams
  • Auto-Pilot — Players book, Capo balances and sends automatically when full

You can override this per match. See RSVP & Booking for details.

Tiered booking

If your group has players with different priority levels — perhaps long-term members get first dibs — you can activate tiered booking with A, B and C tiers.

Each tier has a configurable booking window in hours. For example, for the first 24 hours after a match is created, only Tier A players can book. Then Tier B opens, then Tier C. You can set each player's tier in their player profile once this is enabled.

Balance settings

  • Default balance method — Performance, Ability, or Random
  • EWMA half-life — How quickly older matches fade in performance calculations (advanced)
  • Power vs Goal Threat weighting — Balance between overall strength and scoring ability (advanced)

For Ability Balancing, you can adjust how much weight each attribute carries (e.g., prioritise stamina over goalscoring for defenders) and set team templates that define how many defenders, midfielders and attackers to put on each team (e.g., 1-2-2 for 5-a-side).

For Performance Balancing, you can adjust the weighting between Power Rating and Goal Threat.

Tip

The advanced balance settings are fine at their defaults. We'd recommend leaving them as they are until you're comfortable with the system — you can always tweak later.

Fantasy points

You can configure the points to be whatever you want — it's totally flexible. That said, we recommend sticking with the defaults. They've been battle-tested over 15 years and we've tried every combination to make matches and stats fun and motivating.

Why no points for goals? We get asked this a lot. The problem is it encourages goal-hanging and selfish play. Goal scorers already have the goals leaderboard to motivate them.

Why points for heavy wins/losses? This keeps games competitive. Even when a team is 3-0 down, there's motivation to avoid a heavy loss deduction (and chase a comeback bonus).

Voting settings

  • Voting enabled — Master toggle for post-match voting
  • MoM/DoD/MiA — Toggle each award category
  • Voting duration — How long voting stays open (default: 12 hours)

Badges, streaks & milestones

  • On Fire / Grim Reaper — Toggle these badges on or off. You can set the rolling window (default 45 days) and minimum games to qualify (default 4).
  • Milestone frequency — How often game milestones show in match reports (default: every 25 games). So a player's 100th, 125th, 150th game etc. get a shout-out.
  • Goal streak minimum — How many consecutive games with a goal count as a "streak" (default: 3). Keeps match reports focused on meaningful streaks.
  • Hall of Fame minimum games — How many games a player needs to appear on the all-time record tables. If your group has players with hundreds of games, setting this higher (e.g., 50) keeps the records meaningful.

Payment defaults

If you've connected Stripe, you can set your default payment mode and price per player here. These apply to all new matches unless you override them.

  • Default payment mode — Free, Pay per match, Pass only, or Pass or pay
  • You receive per player — The amount you get for each confirmed booking

See Match Payments and Connecting Stripe for details.

Regional settings

  • Timezone — Used for match times and scheduling
  • Currency — Used for payment pricing
  • Locale — Date and number formatting

Currency is locked after payments

Once you've received your first payment, currency can't be changed. Make sure it's set correctly before accepting payments.

Tip

Changes take effect immediately. Stats and leaderboards update automatically after each match.
