Push Notifications

Capo sends push notifications to keep players up to date with bookings, team announcements and match results. Players control exactly what they receive from their Settings.

Types of notification

Notifications fall into two categories: ones that always fire when they apply to you, and ones players can turn on or off.

Always-on (can't be turned off)

These only fire for the specific match a player is in — they're never club-wide broadcasts. The idea is that if you're booked in or you've played, you need to know what's happening.

  • Match cancelled — if you're booked in.
  • Teams announced — if you're booked in.
  • Match report — if you played.
  • Voting results — if you played.
  • Waitlist offers — if you're on the waitlist and a spot opens.

Preference-based (players can toggle)

Everything else is a player preference. The main groups are:

  • Booking Alerts — booking open and last-call reminders.
  • Post-Match — email copies of the match report.
  • Chat — new messages in the team chat.

Tip

The always-on notifications only fire for the specific match you're in — they're not club-wide broadcasts. Nobody gets pinged about a match they aren't involved in.

How players change their preferences

1

Open the menu

Tap the menu icon in the top corner of the app.
2

Go to Settings → Notifications

You'll see each notification group with a toggle.
3

Toggle what you want

Turn each group on or off. Changes save automatically.

What guests receive by default

Guest players (fill-ins) have broadcast notifications off by default. The thinking: if someone only plays a few times a year, they probably don't want a booking-open ping every Sunday for matches they can't make.

Guests still always receive match-specific notifications when they're actually in a pool — teams announced, match cancelled, match report, voting results. Those follow the same always-on rules as for any other player.

If a guest wants the broadcast notifications too, it's one toggle: Settings → Notifications → Booking Alerts.

Tip

If you've just added a fill-in as a guest, they won't get the booking-open push unless they turn it on themselves. That's intentional — most guests don't want to hear about matches every week.

Admin notification settings

Admins have their own section in notification settings for organiser-specific alerts: dropout warnings, join requests, pool status updates, and so on. These sit alongside the regular player notifications and can be toggled independently.

See Admin Setup for the full guide to admin-only settings.
